Housing Adaptations

Disabled Adaptations

For many years we have been adapting homes to suit
individuals and their carers. Understanding the needs of clients has always been our main priority.
This understanding allows us to help maximise both practicality and freedom within the home.

There are so many adaptations and specialist goods that we can provide, which helps to give back some independence to our customer and also ease of use for their caregiver. We use only recommended major companies for all disabled adaptation equipment who offer after sales care.

Adapting buildings for use by people with disabilities is an area in which we specialise.  We have made adaptations to literally hundreds of buildings, helping to improve quality of life for disabled people and their families.

Many parties come together to successfully adapt a building for disabled persons and we often find ourselves working with occupational therapists, local authority surveyors and specialist suppliers, as well as the building owners and occupiers and the disabled individuals themselves.

We are able to co-ordinate the different desires and demands of these parties and act as a conduit between them to maintain effective communication throughout a project.  We understand and are sensitive to the wide range of disabled people’s needs and our flexible and responsive approach allows us to cater for each person individually.

The result first and foremost is an adaptation that meets the individual needs of the disabled person, but more than that, it is also one that has caused minimum disruption and inconvenience to the customer, has run smoothly and efficiently, to time and budget.

Over the last four years we have worked with Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton Eastleigh Gosport Councils and private home owners through surveyors and other construction professionals on projects such as Anchor Staying Put, In touch and Connaught Agencies.

Examples of our operations

Access Improvements
Working with private customers and agencies we are able to provide access ramps and widen doorways for wheelchair access.

Easy Access Bathrooms
Bathrooms and toilets can be converted to create level access shower areas with wet floors.

We often take out dividing walls between the toilet and bathroom to bring the two rooms together, the one remaining access door can be widened if required.

Sanitaryware and Taps
Either specialised toilets or raised toilets can be installed and basins with access for a wheelchairs using either conventional taps, lever taps and if required temperature control valves that minimise the risk of scalds.

Showers
Electric showers that offer programmable settings are part of our normal specification.

Self Contained Bedrooms and En-suites
If a self-contained bedroom with en suite is your preferred route say for an elderly relative then look no further.

Also we Widen doorsway, build access ramps and steps and installing handrails in private homes/ public buildings, Creating downstairs WC and Building home extensions
